The Accountability Projects

For each situation GAN investigates, it establishes an Accountability Project in partnership with support chapters at an academic institution. GAN’s first such venture was the Syrian Accountability Project (SAP) at Syracuse University College of Law.

Since its founding in 2015, GAN has successfully applied SAP's model to establish Accountability Projects for Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela, and the Pacific Rim region. GAN is also working to establish an Accountability Project for  International Modern Slavery.

In 2022, members of SAP from the Syracuse University College of Law laid the foundations for a Ukraine Accountability Project through the Ukraine Task Force. The Ukraine Accountability Project has published several white papers providing a sample indictment and a roadmap for a special tribunal to prosecute war crimes committed against the people of Ukraine.
